چکیده
We compare the performance of the PHMC algorithm with the one of the HMC algorithm in practical simulations of lattice QCD. We show that the PHMC algorithm can lead to an acceleration of numerical simulations. It is demonstrated that the PHMC algorithm generates configurations carrying small isolated eigenvalues of the lattice Dirac operator and hence leads to a sampling of configuration space that is different from that of the HMC algorithm. ∗Heisenberg Foundation Fellow

The PHMC algorithm for simulations of dynamical fermions: I – description and properties
We give a detailed description of the so-called Polynomial Hybrid Monte Carlo (PHMC) algorithm. The effects of the correction factor, which is introduced to render the algorithm exact, are discussed, stressing their relevance for the statistical fluctuations and (almost) zero mode contributions to physical observables. We also investigate rounding-error effects and propose several ways to reduc...
متن کاملMulti-Step stochastic correction in dynamical fermion updating algorithms
The advantages of using Multi-Step corrections for simulations of lattice gauge theories with dynamical fermions will be discussed. This technique is suited for algorithms based on the MultiBoson representation of the dynamical fermions as well as for the Hybrid Monte-Carlo (HMC) algorithm and variants of the latter, like the Polynomial-HMC. Especially the latter has the power to deal with an o...
متن کاملAn Exact Algorithm for Any-flavor Lattice QCD with Kogut-Susskind Fermion
We propose an exact simulation algorithm for lattice QCD with dynamical KogutSusskind fermion in which the Nf -flavor fermion operator is defined as the Nf/4-th root of the Kogut-Susskind (KS) fermion operator. The algorithm is an extension of the Polynomial Hybrid Monte Carlo (PHMC) algorithm to KS fermions. The fractional power of the KS fermion operator is approximated with a Hermitian Cheby...
متن کاملImpact of large cutoff-effects on algorithms for improved Wilson fermions
As a feasibility study for a scaling test we investigate the behavior of algorithms for dynamical fermions in the Nf =2 Schrödinger functional at an intermediate volume of 1 fm. Simulations were performed using HMC with two pseudo–fermions and PHMC at lattice spacings of approximately 0.1 and 0.07 fm. We show that some algorithmic problems are due to large cutoff–effects in the spectrum of the ...

We present a polynomial Hybrid Monte Carlo (PHMC) algorithm as an exact simulation algorithm with dy-namical Kogut-Susskind fermions. The algorithm uses a Hermitian polynomial approximation for the fractional power of the KS fermion matrix. The systematic error from the polynomial approximation is removed by the Kennedy-Kuti noisy Metropolis test so that the algorithm becomes exact at a finite ...
